My name is Matai
a identify as a guy
a child born from the American melting pot
my mother was a giant
her heart bigger than her height (6'7"), Samoan and Scottish
she raised me alone, a wonderful woman indeed <3
my father chose to live by his own creed, a traveling musician, salesman and athlete
Native American and African, born in LA yet traveled the world without a dime in the bank or gas in the tank...
Their stories go on but back to me now
I was born in the New Mexico, grew up in NY
learned French as a child
loved playing music until I gave up for a while
focused on math and college as that was the way out of poverty most would say
took a break before graduation to go to Germany for a year, found a government sponsored program that flew me there and kept me fed, still fluent to the ear but writing I fear
then back to the US I came, finished college with good grades
backpacked India for a month
then went corporate for a while
learned Spanish thanks to my ex
traveled south for the winter, Argentina and Brazil were in summer
then came covid and we all went undercover
although the times were tough I was lucky to find my new lover
like a dream somehow we met on tik tok and with 2 months were a team
our first date in person lasting 5 months without pause
crazy some may say, but we choose to make our own laws
love is the focus
kept working throughout
changed jobs to a startup
left with a bow to help others and no longer corporations
now I help raise social impact donations while working on NFT projects with the web3 community creating new occupations
modeling as well to help tell stories as we explore
we learn and try to never bore
recently I've practicing learning to soar
